FUNERALS AND END-OF-LIFE

Honouring a life. Cherishing a legacy

Losing a loved one is undoubtedly one of the most challenging life experiences one can go through. The grief can feel overwhelming at times, and although there’s the loving support of family and friends close by, it’s the deep personal connection lost that only time can begin to heal.

Having a professional walk alongside you can help bear some of the emotional weight while empathetically guiding you through the process of planning and staging a funeral. With many years of experience as a Funeral Director and Celebrant, I’m well-versed in addressing any end-of-life situation with compassion, sincerity and sensitivity for all. My open nature, warm humour and timely intuition will provide you and your loved ones with the reassuring comfort and relief you need during this time. With particular attention to detail, I pride myself on paying respect to a beautiful life by seeking to understand the endearing personality that genuinely encapsulates the person's essence.

I can work with people of all cultures, religions, beliefs and groups to create a respectful and memorable ceremony delivered in an inclusive setting that we thoughtfully plan with a shared purpose — living wakes, memorials, ash scattering and most other contemporary formats.

The Process

Truly touching ceremonies happen when we work closely together to create a personalised funeral service that warms the hearts of all attending. As your Funeral Celebrant, I get to know you and your family in the lead-up to the day and help you create your desired order of proceedings, including the people you’d like to involve directly. Here’s how we make that happen.

  • If I feel like the right Funeral Celebrant for you, please complete the form below with your preferred ceremony date, time and some more background information. I’ll get back to you promptly with my availability and a quote.

  • Before you book me, we can chat over FaceTime, Skype, Zoom, phone or face-to-face to ask me more profound questions and arrive at a well-considered place you and your family are comfortable with.

  • With the funeral date set, we’ll next meet to discuss how you would like the service to occur. This involves working with you to help create the format and flow, including people saying their own special words, playing slideshow memories, selecting music and producing a program for guests on the day. It’s here that I’ll also ask for some additional background information and stories on your loved one who has passed so I can craft some meaningful words that will resonate with guests.

  • On the day of the funeral, I’ll arrive early to familiarise myself with the location and walk you through the final proceedings so we’re all on the same page. If needed, I’ll set up my equipment, including a PA system, microphone, iPod and Bluetooth connectivity and then we’ll commence the service. As mentioned, it will understandably be an overwhelming experience, but you’ll have all the time and support you need as I guide you and your loved ones through what will be a beautiful community celebration of a life well lived.
